General Description The Gayatri Mentoring Program India aims to guide and nurture future leaders in tech. The objective is to offer the right platform for mentoring aspiring women by associating them with current leaders in the tech field. This program pairs a mentee with a mentor to focus on career advancement or transitions.

Logistics Mentor and mentee will meet virtually for a minimum of one hour per week for an agreed period of time (between 6 – 12 months). This program has an ongoing registration which closes after 5 mentor-mentee pairs are formed.

Language and Time Zone This program will be conducted in English, and participants should be available to meet during India Standard Time (IST).

Program Offering This program has a rolling open registration. A maximum of five mentoring pairs can be active at any one time. Availability opens when an active mentoring pair concludes their engagement. Interested mentors and mentees will be placed on a waiting list if there are no slots available at time of application.

Mentee Eligibility This program is open to members of the WiBD India Chapter who have 3+ years of technology related employment experience This program is appropriate for anyone looking to advance their career within any computational technology field.

Mentor Eligibility This program is open to members from any WiBD chapter. Successful mentor candidates, with 10+ years in technology, will demonstrate strong technology skills along with good communication and interpersonal skills.

The Mentoring Program offered by WiBD India aims to guide and nurture future leaders in tech. We strive to offer the right platform for mentoring aspiring women by associating them with current leaders in the tech field. We believe that this program resonates with our mission statement of improving women representation in data and its allied fields.

OUR FIRST COHORT We are happy to announce the first cohort of the program between Bhavya Jha, VP – Stratery & Business Analysis at Moodys and Akila Gollapalli, Technical Program Manager at Intel Corporation.

Bhavya has always been an active advocate of women in STEM and data. She is joining WiBD India as an expert to work closely with the team and share her expertise to encourage women to take up careers in data and allied fields.

Akila Gollapalli is a Software Program Manager at Intel Bangalore, with the Ethernet Platform group within the Data Platform group. She has recently taken up this new role and will be handling the software deliverables for some key IPs going into some upcoming and innovative Data centre products. Prior to this role, Akila was a Platform Program Manager at the Client computing group and has made a lateral transfer to DPG.

ELIGIBILITY AND PROCESS

Each member is throughly screened and only if the eligibility criteria for both mentor and mentee is satisfied a cohort is formed. Depending on the field/s in which the mentee needs mentoring, an appropriate expert will be assigned.
